Step 1 of 8

Set up the Timelydo Jobs extension

Add the Timelydo Jobs extension to Chrome, connect it to your account, and switch on Job Tracker. It takes about five minutes, and you only do it once per browser.

In short

Open Integrations, then Job Tracker in TimelyDo. Download the zip, add it to Chrome with Developer mode and Load unpacked, click Connect in the extension, then switch Enable Job Tracker on.

When it is on, a Jobs group appears in your sidebar with Job Listings, Companies and CV Builder.

Before you start

What you need

  • A TimelyDo account, and a computer with Google Chrome.
  • A LinkedIn account that you are signed in to in the same Chrome. The extension uses that session, so it never needs your LinkedIn password.
The extension is not in the Chrome Web Store yet, so you add it to Chrome yourself. That is why the steps below use Developer mode. It is safe, it is only the way Chrome installs an extension from a folder.
Install

Step 1. Download the extension

In TimelyDo open Integrations from the sidebar and choose Job Tracker, or go straight to /integrations/job_tracker. The page lists three steps and shows your progress as you go.

In the first step choose Download timelydo-jobs.zip. TimelyDo builds the file for you each time, so it always matches the current version of the app.

Step 2. Add it to Chrome

1
Unzip the file
You get a folder called timelydo-jobs. Put it somewhere permanent, such as your Documents folder. Chrome reads the extension from that folder every time it starts, so do not delete or move it afterwards.
2
Open the extensions page
In Chrome, open chrome://extensions. If a link does not open it, Chrome has blocked the link. Copy the address, open a new tab and paste it.
3
Turn on Developer mode
The switch is in the top right corner of the extensions page.
4
Choose Load unpacked
Click Load unpacked and select the timelydo-jobs folder. The extension card appears.
5
Pin it
Click the puzzle piece icon in the Chrome toolbar and pin Timelydo so the icon is always in reach.

Back on the Job Tracker page, the extension is detected within a moment and shows Extension detected with its version. If it does not, choose Check again, or switch to that tab and back.

Step 3. Connect your account

1
Click the Timelydo icon
The popup shows Connect to Timelydo.
2
Choose Connect
A TimelyDo window opens. Sign in if you are asked to.
3
Approve access
Choose Allow. That one browser is now linked to your account only.

The popup now shows your name and email with a green Connected label, and the Job Tracker page lists the browser under step 3 with its version and when it was last used.

No password goes to the extension. Connecting gives that browser a private token that you can cancel at any time with Disconnect.
Turn it on

Step 4. Enable Job Tracker

Under the three steps there is a switch called Enable Job Tracker. It stays locked until a browser is connected, then you can turn it on. When it is on, the page says The Jobs section is showing in your sidebar.

You can switch Job Tracker off again. That disconnects every browser and removes Jobs from the sidebar. Your saved jobs are kept, and you can set it up again later.
Keep it working

Updating, disconnecting and removing

Because the extension is added from a folder, Chrome does not update it by itself.

  • To update: download the zip again from the Job Tracker page, replace the folder with the new one, then open chrome://extensions and press the reload icon on the Timelydo card. Refresh any open LinkedIn tabs afterwards. The version is shown in the popup footer and on the Job Tracker page.
  • To disconnect a browser: press Disconnect next to it on the Job Tracker page, or in the extension popup.
  • To remove the extension: remove it on chrome://extensions. Disconnect it first so its token is cancelled.
If you reload the extension while a LinkedIn tab is open, that tab keeps an old copy of the script. It stops quietly. Refresh the LinkedIn tab to load the new one.
Help

Frequently asked questions

Q

The page says the extension is not detected

Check three things: the extension is turned on at chrome://extensions, you are using the same Chrome profile where you added it, and you are looking at the Job Tracker page in Chrome. Then choose Check again. The page also checks again when you come back to the tab.

Q

The Enable Job Tracker switch is locked

It unlocks once a browser is connected. Click the Timelydo icon in Chrome, choose Connect, approve access, then come back to the page.

Q

I do not see the Jobs section in my sidebar

The Jobs group appears only while Job Tracker is enabled. Open Integrations, Job Tracker and check the switch. Refresh the page after turning it on.

Q

I cannot see Load unpacked

Turn on Developer mode in the top right corner of chrome://extensions. The Load unpacked button only appears while it is on.

Q

Connect does not work or the window closes

Sign in to TimelyDo in the same Chrome first, then try Connect again. Chrome closes the popup while the approval window is open, which is normal: reopen the popup afterwards to see the result. If it says the extension is not allowed, you are probably using an old copy, so download the zip again.

Q

Can I use it on more than one computer?

Yes. Set it up in each Chrome. Every browser is listed on the Job Tracker page and can be disconnected separately.

Q

I moved or deleted the extension folder

Chrome then shows the extension as broken. Put the folder back, or download the zip again, unzip it somewhere permanent and use Load unpacked once more. You will need to connect again.

Q

Is it safe to turn on Developer mode?

Developer mode only lets Chrome load an extension from a folder. It does not weaken anything else. The Timelydo Jobs extension talks only to LinkedIn and TimelyDo.
