Step 3 of 8

Fetch jobs and work with Job Listings

Press Start in the extension and it searches LinkedIn for your job titles and locations, opens each new job and saves it to your account. Then Job Listings is where you read, filter and decide.

In short

Click the Timelydo icon, open the Jobs tab and press Start on one search, or Start all. Keep the LinkedIn tab open while it works.

When it finishes, open Jobs, then Job Listings to find your jobs. Search them, filter by posted date and status, and bookmark, ignore or mark as applied.

Before you start

Before you start

  • The extension is connected and Job Tracker is on (step 1).
  • You have at least one job title and one location (step 2).
  • You are signed in to LinkedIn in the same Chrome.
Keep it modest. The extension is deliberately slow and reads one job at a time, like a person. It still uses your own LinkedIn session, and LinkedIn has rules about automated tools. Start with one search and a low page limit.
Run a search

What happens while it runs

1
A LinkedIn tab opens
The extension opens one tab and searches there. A panel covers the page with the search it is running, the page number, and how many jobs it has read and saved. It also says whose account it runs for.
2
It searches like a person
It types the job title, picks LinkedIn's matching suggestion, then the location, and checks that LinkedIn really searched what you asked for. If not, it stops with a message instead of saving the wrong jobs.
3
It asks TimelyDo what you already have
For every page it asks which jobs are already saved. Those are skipped, so they are not opened again.
4
It opens each new job
One at a time, with short pauses. It reads the title, company, location, posted time, applicants, description, hiring team and more.
5
It sends each page to TimelyDo
Jobs are saved as they come in. If you stop halfway nothing already saved is lost.
Please keep the LinkedIn tab open. You can use other tabs and windows as normal. When everything finishes the tab moves on to your Job Listings page.

Stopping, and when LinkedIn signs you out

Press Stop in the popup or on the panel over LinkedIn. The search ends within a few seconds, and the jobs already read stay saved. Continue picks the search up again; jobs already saved are skipped.

If LinkedIn shows a sign in page, the extension stops every search at once and tells you in several ways: a sound, a notification, a red badge on the icon, and the popup with the reason. Sign in to LinkedIn and press Start again.

A search that finds nothing new finishes quickly, because everything on the page is already saved.
Job Listings

Job Listings: your jobs in one place

Open Jobs and then Job Listings (/jobs). The header shows how many jobs are saved and how many you applied to. The list is on the left, the open job on the right.

ControlWhat it does
Active, Bookmarked, IgnoredActive shows every job you have not ignored. Each tab shows its count.
Job title and LocationShow only jobs found by one of your titles or locations.
StatusAll jobs, Not applied or Applied.
PostedAny time, Past hour, Past 24 hours, Past week or Past month.
SortNewest posted, or Recently saved.
ClearResets every filter.
RefreshLoads the newest jobs without losing your place.

Jobs load 25 at a time as you scroll. The up and down arrow keys move to the previous or next job, like in a mail app.

Reading and tracking a job

The right side shows the full job: title, company, location, how long ago it was posted, applicants, preference tags, the description, and a company panel. Four icons sit beside the title:

IconMeaning
OpenOpens the job on LinkedIn in a new tab.
CheckMarks the job as applied. Mark it again to undo.
BookmarkAdds it to your Bookmarked tab.
Eye with a lineIgnores it. An ignored job leaves Active and shows in Ignored.

A job is either bookmarked or ignored, never both. Click the company name or logo to open a panel with the company's details. See Fetch company details.

The posted time is worked out from the date LinkedIn gave, so it keeps counting. A job you saved last week reads 1 week ago today, not the frozen text from the day it was saved.

Saved jobs on LinkedIn

With Mark saved jobs on LinkedIn on, jobs you already have show an Available in Timelydo line in the LinkedIn list. It saves you from looking at the same job twice.

Help

Frequently asked questions

Q

How long does a search take?

A page of about 25 new jobs takes a few minutes, because the extension opens each job and pauses between them. Jobs you already have are skipped in seconds, so reruns are much faster.

Q

Can I close the LinkedIn tab or use my computer meanwhile?

Use your computer as normal, but leave the LinkedIn tab the extension opened. Closing it ends that search. Your saved jobs stay.

Q

The search finished but no jobs were saved

Either everything on those pages was already saved, or LinkedIn found no results for that title and place. Check the status line in the popup: it shows how many were new and how many were already saved.

Q

LinkedIn signed me out and the search stopped

Sign in to LinkedIn in the same Chrome and press Start again. The jobs read before it stopped are saved, and they are skipped on the next run.

Q

Will the same job be saved twice?

No. A job is saved once per account. If it appears again in another search it is updated, not duplicated.

Q

How do I mark that I applied?

Open the job on Job Listings and press the check icon beside the title. Use the Status filter to see applied or not applied jobs.

Q

Can I delete a job?

Ignore it. An ignored job leaves the Active tab and is kept under Ignored, so it is not saved again as new.

Q

How do I see only jobs posted in the last day?

Open the Posted filter on Job Listings and choose Past 24 hours. The options are Past hour, Past 24 hours, Past week and Past month.
