In short
Job Tracker is a Chrome extension plus a Jobs section in TimelyDo. The extension searches LinkedIn for the job titles and places you choose, and sends what it finds to your account.
Follow the eight steps below in order. You can stop after any of them: fetching jobs works on its own, and the AI steps are optional.
What Job Tracker is
Job Tracker collects jobs for you. You tell TimelyDo which job titles and which locations you care about. A small Chrome extension, Timelydo Jobs, then runs those searches on LinkedIn in your own browser, opens each new job, and saves it to your TimelyDo account.
Everything you collect appears in a new Jobs section in your sidebar, with three pages:
| Page | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Job Listings | Every job the extension saved. Search, filter, bookmark, ignore, mark as applied, and read the full description. |
| Companies | The companies behind your jobs, with what LinkedIn and their own websites say about them. |
| CV Builder | Your resumes. One of them is your default, and AI writes tailored copies of it for the jobs you pick. |
The path, step by step
Each step has its own article. Do them in this order the first time.
What you need
- A TimelyDo account.
- Google Chrome on a computer (other browsers cannot run the extension).
- A LinkedIn account that you are signed in to in that Chrome.
- For the AI steps only: an OpenAI account with a payment method, because OpenAI bills the usage to you.
How the pieces work together
There are three parts, and each does one job.
| Part | What it does | Where it lives |
|---|---|---|
| The extension | Runs searches on LinkedIn, reads jobs and companies, and sends them to your account. It never shows jobs itself. | Chrome, next to the address bar |
| TimelyDo | Stores everything, shows it on the Jobs pages, and holds your settings, your resumes and your OpenAI key (encrypted). | The Jobs section of the app |
| OpenAI | Writes the tailored resume, only when you press the button, using your own key. | Your OpenAI account |
Your settings live in TimelyDo and the extension reads them each time it starts. Change a job title or a page limit in the app and the next search uses it.
Your data and privacy
- The extension talks only to LinkedIn (in your tab) and to TimelyDo. It stores a connection token in Chrome, never your password.
- Jobs, companies and resumes belong to your account. Resume content is encrypted when stored.
- Your OpenAI key is stored encrypted, shown only as its last four characters, and used only for the AI features you choose to run.
- You can disconnect a browser, delete your key, or turn Job Tracker off at any time.
Frequently asked questions
What is TimelyDo Job Tracker?
A Chrome extension and a Jobs section in TimelyDo. The extension searches LinkedIn for the job titles and locations you choose and saves the jobs to your account, where you can search, filter and track them. Optionally, AI writes a tailored resume for any job.
Does Job Tracker cost anything?
Job Tracker and the extension are part of TimelyDo. The only cost is optional: if you use AI to write resumes, OpenAI bills the usage to your own OpenAI account. A typical resume costs a fraction of a cent to a few cents, depending on the model. See what AI costs.
Does it work with Indeed, Glassdoor or other job sites?
Not yet. LinkedIn is the only supported site today.
Can I use it in Firefox, Safari or on my phone?
No. The extension is built for Google Chrome on a computer. You can open the Jobs pages in TimelyDo from any browser or device, but fetching needs Chrome.
Do I have to use the AI features?
No. Steps 1 to 4 (fetching jobs and companies) work without OpenAI. Steps 5 to 8 are optional and only start when you choose to use them.
Do I have to follow the steps in order?
The first four steps build on each other. The AI steps need a default resume and an OpenAI key, so do those before generating. After that you can come back to any step in any order.
