Open Integrations, then OpenAI. Create a key on OpenAI's API keys page, paste it, and TimelyDo saves it only if OpenAI accepts it.
Nothing is spent by connecting. AI only costs money when you press Generate resume with AI under a job.
Why it uses your own key
Some products bundle AI into a subscription and hide the cost. TimelyDo does the opposite: AI runs on your own OpenAI account, so you see what you spend, you choose the model, and you can stop at any time. The key is stored encrypted and used only for the AI features you choose to run.
Connect your key
/integrations/openai).sk-. The eye icon shows or hides what you typed.When it works the page shows your key as sk-•••• followed by its last four characters, with the status that the integration is on. The full key is never shown again.
Billing and spending
OpenAI bills the usage to your own OpenAI account, not to TimelyDo. For the calls to work your OpenAI account needs a payment method or prepaid credit. Add it on the billing page of your OpenAI account.
- A resume costs a fraction of a cent to a few cents depending on the model. The AI settings show each model's price, and each generated resume shows what it cost.
- You can set a monthly budget or usage limit in your OpenAI account, as a safety net.
- If OpenAI runs out of credit, a resume run stops with a message that says so. Add credit and try again.
Check, replace or remove the key

How the key is handled
- It is sent over HTTPS, stored encrypted, and shown only as its last four characters.
- It is used only when you ask for an AI feature, such as generating a resume for a job.
- It is never written to logs, and error messages shown to you never include it.
- Use a key made just for TimelyDo, so you can delete it at OpenAI without affecting other tools.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I get an OpenAI API key?
On OpenAI's API keys page at platform.openai.com. Sign in with your OpenAI account, create a new secret key and copy it. A ChatGPT subscription is separate from the API and does not include API credit.
TimelyDo says my key was not accepted
Check that you copied the whole key without spaces, that it has not been deleted at OpenAI, and that the account is active. Create a fresh key and try again.
It says my OpenAI account has no credit
Add a payment method or prepaid credit on the billing page of your OpenAI account, wait a minute, and run it again.
It worked before and now OpenAI no longer accepts my key
The key was probably deleted or expired at OpenAI. Press Check key again, then Replace key with a new one.
Is my key safe in TimelyDo?
It is stored encrypted, never shown in full again, and used only when you run an AI feature. You can remove it any time, and you can delete the key at OpenAI to cancel it everywhere.
Does connecting OpenAI cost anything?
No. Connecting and switching AI on spend nothing. Costs only start when you generate a resume.
