The short version
Open an invoice from the list. The top shows the totals and the buttons, the cards show reminders, payments, credit notes and emails, and the activity at the bottom is the full history.
The overview
The top of the page shows Total, Paid and Amount due, and the invoice itself with its status. A voided invoice says Void. Nothing is due. An invoice with a credit note shows what was taken back or given back.
The buttons are Download PDF, Copy link, Send again and Record a payment, and a menu for the rest.
The cards
- Payment plan: each part with its date, amount and state, when the invoice is paid in parts.
- Reminders: see reminders and notices.
- Payments: each payment with its method (Card, Bank transfer, Cash or Other), reference and date, and any refund. A payment you recorded by hand has Remove.
- Credit notes: each note with its number, reason and amount, PDF and Email again (not twice within 10 minutes), and the card refund status.
- Emails: every email sent for the invoice. See below.
The Emails list
Each row has the address, a status pill and what it was. The status is Sending, Sent or Failed. A failed email shows why. Copies show as Copies: and the address. The kinds are Invoice, Reminder, Receipt and Credit note.
The activity timeline
The activity card is the full history, newest facts with who did it: you, your customer or Timelydo. It records:
- Draft created, edited, numbered and locked, sent and sent again, scheduled or canceled.
- The invoice was opened by the customer (once).
- Reminders sent, went past its due date, reported.
- Payments started, failed, recorded or removed, receipts, refunds, disputes.
- Credit notes, written off, voided, copied into a new draft.
Use it to answer "did they get it" and "who changed it".
When customers cannot pay
If your Stripe account is not connected, needs details or is restricted, a box appears: Customers cannot pay this by card. It names the real reason and links to the fix. Your customer only sees that they should contact you. See Pay by card and fees.
