The short version

The Invoices page shows four tiles on top and your invoices below. Use the tabs, the search box and the sort menu to narrow the list. The row menu on the right of each invoice has the actions.

The buttons at the top

ButtonWhat it does
New invoiceOpens an empty draft in the editor.
From a bookingMakes a draft from a confirmed booking. See Invoice a booking.
Export CSVShown once you have an invoice. Choose One row per invoice, or One row per tax rate for your accountant.

Estimates, Recurring, Time and Reports are in the Invoicing part of the side menu, next to Invoices and Customers. On a phone, New invoice shows as New.

The four tiles

TileWhat it shows
OutstandingWhat your open invoices still owe you, including late ones.
OverdueThe part of that which is past its due date.
PaidMoney received in the period you picked, less refunds, compared with the period before.
DraftsInvoices you wrote but have not sent, at what they are worth now.

Each tile has the amount and the number of invoices. Money in different currencies is never added together.

Currency and period

With invoices in more than one currency, a currency picker appears. Pick one and the tiles show only that currency. The period picker sets what the Paid tile covers: 7 days, 30 days, 90 days, 12 months or all time. On a phone the period is a menu.

Tabs, search and sort

The tabs are All, Drafts, Unpaid, Overdue and Paid, each with its count. The search box finds invoices by number, customer or amount. Sort by Newest first, Due date or Highest amount. When a search or tab is active, Clear filters appears.

The list shows 25 invoices a page, with Previous and Next under it. Each row has the number (a draft shows Draft), the customer and email, the issue date, the due date with how many days late, the amount (with what is still due when part paid) and a status badge. Select a row to open it: drafts open in the editor, sent invoices open their page. On a phone the rows are cards.

Work on several invoices

Tick rows, or the box in the header to tick the whole page. A bar appears on desktop with Export selected, Send N reminders, Download N PDFs as one zip, and Mark N paid (choose Bank transfer, Cash or Other, paid in full today, no receipt emails). Clear removes the ticks. Reminders and Mark paid only apply to sent invoices that still owe money. For the numbers behind the list see Reports and exports.

The first steps checklist

Before you have written any invoice, the list is replaced by a checklist with a progress bar. The steps are Add your business details, Connect Stripe, Add a customer and Create your first invoice. Each step shows Done once it is in place and has a button for the next one. The tiles stay at zero. Anyone can write invoices, but sending needs a Stripe account that can take payments. See Getting started with invoicing.

FAQ

Q

How do I find one invoice?

Type its number, the customer name or the amount in the search box. Pick a tab or sort to narrow the list further.
Q

Why can I not delete a sent invoice?

Only drafts can be deleted. A sent invoice has a number that is never reused. Void it instead if nothing was paid.
Q

Why is there a currency picker?

You have invoices in more than one currency. The tiles never add them together, so you see one currency at a time.
Q

Which invoices does Export CSV include?

The list as you filtered it. Use the Drafts tab to include drafts. For a few invoices only, tick them and choose Export selected.
