Sending Invoices and Estimates Later

Write an invoice or an estimate now and let TimelyDo send it at the right moment.

The short version

In the send dialog, choose Send later and pick a day and time. The draft waits, still editable, and is checked again when its time comes. If something is missing then, it is not sent and you are told.

Scheduling

Scheduling a send

Open the send dialog from the invoice editor, with Send for an invoice or Send as estimate for an estimate, and choose Send later. Pick the day and a time in half hours. It shows the time zone the time is in. The time must be at least 5 minutes and at most a year away.

Everything that sending checks is checked right away, so you can fix a missing address or detail while you are still there. The recipient, copies, subject and message you chose are kept for the moment it goes out.

An estimate sent later is valid for 30 days from the day it goes out, unless you choose a date of your own.

While it waits

The draft shows a Scheduled badge in the list and a banner in the editor with the time and the recipient. You can keep editing it, and the version at the time it goes out is the one sent.

Select Cancel schedule in the banner to stop it, or Send now instead to send it straight away.

When the time comes

How it goes out

TimelyDo looks for scheduled drafts every few minutes and sends each one once, as you. An invoice gets its number then, and an estimate is numbered and emailed as if you had sent it yourself.

If it cannot go out

The draft is checked again at its time. If something is missing by then, for example a detail you removed while editing, it is not sent. It stays a draft, the history says why, and you get an email so you can fix it and send it.
