The short version
Set Invoice language on the customer. English and German are available today. You can also change it from the invoice editor, and your customer can switch it on their own page.
What it changes
The invoice language is set per customer. For that customer it controls the words on:
- the invoice and the estimate
- the emails you send, including reminders
- the PDF
- the invoice page, the estimate page and the customer portal
Your own app stays in your own language. Only what your customer reads changes.
Which languages you can pick
Today you can choose English or German. A language only appears in the list once every customer page and email is fully translated into it, so nobody gets a half translated invoice.
A new customer starts in your own language. A customer saved before this setting existed also uses yours, which is what they were already getting.
Change it on the customer
Open the customer and choose Edit. Pick a language under Invoice language and save. The hint reads: their invoices, estimates, emails and payment page are in this language. The customer page shows the language under New invoices start with.
Change it in the invoice editor
The customer card in the invoice editor shows Invoice language. Change it there and it is saved for the customer, with the note Saved for this customer. The preview and later invoices follow it.
When you send, the dialog says which language it goes out in: the email, PDF and invoice page are in that language.
The switcher on your customer's page
Your customer sees the invoice page in the language you chose. A menu there (DE or EN) lets them read it in the other language. Their choice carries through paying, downloading the PDF and reporting the invoice. It does not change the language saved for the customer.
