In short
Go to Settings → Account, add the address under Email addresses, confirm it is you with your password, then open the link we email to that address.
Once confirmed, you can sign in with it using your usual password or Google, and you land in the same account as always.
What it is
Plenty of people use more than one address: a personal one, a work one, an old one they still receive mail on. Instead of creating a separate TimelyDo account for each, you can link them all to the one account you already have.
A linked email is simply another way to sign in. Your events, bookings, calendars and settings stay exactly where they are, whichever address you use.
Your primary email
The address you signed up with is your primary email. It stays in charge of the account:
- All notifications, booking emails and password reset links go to it
- It is the only address that can add or remove linked emails
- It is the only address that can change the password, two factor authentication or delete the account
Adding an email
Sign in with your primary email first. Then:
Confirming it
Open the email sent to the new address and select Confirm email. The link works for 72 hours. If it has expired, select Resend on the card to get a fresh one.
The link opens a page that shows which account the address will join. Select Confirm and link email and it is linked right away. No sign in is needed, so the person who has that inbox can confirm it on their own phone or computer.
If the email reached someone who did not ask for it, they can select This wasn't me on the page, or just ignore the email. Either way nothing is linked.
Signing in with it
On the sign in page, type the linked email and your account password. If the address is a Google account, Sign in with Google works too. Two factor authentication, if you have it on, still asks for a code as usual.
While you are signed in with a linked email, a small note at the bottom of the sidebar says Signed in with and the address you used. On a phone, the same note is at the top of your profile menu.
What a linked email can and cannot do
Signing in with a linked email gives you your normal account. A few account level changes are kept for your primary email, so that someone who gets into one of your other inboxes cannot take over the account.
| Action | Signed in with a linked email |
|---|---|
| Events, bookings, calendars, profile | Yes |
| See your email addresses | Only the one you used |
| Add or remove linked emails | Primary email only |
| Change the password | Primary email only |
| Turn two factor authentication on or off | Primary email only |
| Delete the account | Primary email only |
To make one of those changes, sign out and sign back in with your primary email.
Removing an email
Signed in with your primary email, go to Settings → Account and select Remove next to the address. For an address still waiting for confirmation, select Cancel instead, and its link stops working.
Email notices
We tell your primary email whenever an address is linked or removed, with the time in your own timezone. The removed address also gets a short note saying it no longer opens the account.
If a notice arrives and it was not you, act on it. Remove any address you do not recognise, change your password, and contact us at support@timelydo.com.
