In short
Go to Connected Calendars, select Connect on the Google Calendar card, and approve access on Google's own screen. That is the whole setup.
From then on your existing events block your availability, and every booking you take is added to your calendar.
Overview
What it does
Connecting Google Calendar does two separate jobs, and it is worth keeping them apart in your head.
Your Google events→block your free slots A new TimelyDo booking→added to your Google calendar
The first job stops people booking over something you are already doing. The second saves you copying bookings across by hand, and means your calendar stays the one place you look.
Nobody sees what your events are. Your booking page shows which times are free and nothing else. Titles, guests and descriptions never reach the person booking with you.
What you need
A Google account, and one minute. Personal accounts and Google Workspace accounts both work the same way.
gmail.comGoogle WorkspaceMore than one account
You can connect several accounts if you keep work and personal calendars apart. Each one appears as its own row, and each blocks your availability unless you switch it off.
Select Connect on the Google Calendar card. A short overlay appears while your browser is handed over to Google.

Approve access on Google
Sign in if you are not already, pick the account you want, and approve what TimelyDo asks for. This happens on Google's own page, so your password is never typed into TimelyDo.

You are back, and it is on
Google returns you to TimelyDo and the account appears in your list with its email address. The first sync starts straight away.
If you have several Google accounts signed in on that browser, check carefully which one you pick on Google's screen. The email shown in your list afterwards tells you what was actually connected.
Shared and secondary calendars
One Google account often holds more than one calendar. Alongside your main one there may be a team calendar, a family calendar, or a subscribed holiday calendar. TimelyDo picks these up as well and lists them under the account they belong to, each with its own name.
That matters because they all share the same email address. The name is the only thing telling one from another, which is why the list shows the calendar name first and the address underneath.
A subscribed holiday calendar blocks your time like any other calendar. If you would rather it did not, switch that one calendar off and leave the rest on.
Choosing a colour
Each connected calendar has a colour picker with 11 colours. Events from that calendar appear in the colour you choose on your TimelyDo calendar, so you can tell at a glance whether something came from work, from home, or from TimelyDo itself.
Everyday use
What blocks your time and what does not
Not every entry in a calendar means you are busy, so TimelyDo follows the same rules Google itself does.
Event
Blocks your time
Why
An ordinary event
Yes
You are busy, so the slot disappears from your booking page
An all day event
Yes
Covers the whole day
An invitation you declined
No
You said you are not going, so the time is yours again
An event marked Free in Google
No
Google treats it as available, and so do we
A cancelled event
No
It is not happening
This gives you a simple way to keep a slot bookable while still keeping a note in your calendar. Set the event to Free in Google and it stops blocking, without you deleting anything.
Bookings on your calendar
When somebody books, TimelyDo adds the booking to the calendar chosen for that event type. You pick that calendar in the event editor, under Add to calendar, so different event types can write to different calendars.
The person who booked is added as a guest, so the event shows up for them too. If the event type uses Google Meet as its location, a Meet link is created with the event.
Your TimelyDo calendar
Your connected events sit alongside your TimelyDo bookings on the calendar page, in the colour you picked. Select any event to open it and you get the time, the location, the guests with their replies, the description, and a link to open the event in Google Calendar.
Two things you can do from there without leaving TimelyDo:
Answer an invitation
Yes, No or Maybe, without opening Google
If you are a guest on an event, the panel shows a Going? row. Your answer is sent to Google, and declining frees the slot on your booking page straight away.
Drag an event to a new time
Only for events you organise
Move an event and the new time is written back to Google. Google refuses time changes on an event somebody else organises, exactly as its own app does, so those cannot be dragged.
Events Google built from an email, such as flight and hotel confirmations, are read only. Google rejects any change to them from outside its own apps, so you cannot answer or move them here. Change them in Gmail or Google Calendar instead.
Managing
Keeping it in step
Google tells us as soon as something on your calendar changes, so a new or moved event normally reaches TimelyDo within seconds. A regular check runs as well, so nothing is missed if a notice goes astray.
Each row shows when it was last synced, and the Sync button forces a fresh check whenever you want one.
Pausing a calendar
The Active toggle on each row turns a calendar off without disconnecting it. While it is off, its events stop blocking your availability. Turn it back on and everything resumes, with no need to approve access again.
This is the setting you want for a holiday calendar you would rather ignore, or a shared calendar that is noisy but not really your time.
Disconnecting
Select Disconnect on the row and confirm. Disconnecting does more than unlink the account, so it is worth knowing what changes:
Copies of your events
Removed from TimelyDo, so they stop blocking your availability
Bookings already made
Stay in TimelyDo exactly as they are
Event types writing to it
Fall back to no calendar, so new bookings are no longer added anywhere
Event types using Google Meet
Reset to no location, because the Meet link came from that account
Check your event types after disconnecting. Any of them that used Google Meet will have no location until you set one, and any that added bookings to this calendar will no longer do so. If you only want to stop it blocking your time, use the Active toggle instead.
Help
Troubleshooting
TimelyDo says it lost access
Reconnect from the same page
Google withdraws access when you change your password, or when TimelyDo is removed from the apps listed in your Google account. Syncing stops and we email you, because otherwise your availability would quietly go stale. Open Connected Calendars and connect the account again. Your event types keep pointing at it.
Some events are missing
Usually the wrong calendar, or it is switched off
Check the calendar the event actually lives on. A secondary calendar is a separate row with its own Active toggle, so the event may be on one you have switched off. If everything looks right, press Sync to force a fresh check.
The times look wrong
Check your timezone
Events are shown in the timezone on your TimelyDo profile. If everything looks shifted by a fixed number of hours, that setting is usually the cause rather than the sync itself.
I cannot move an event
Only the organiser can change the time
Google only lets the organiser change an event's time, so an event somebody else set up cannot be dragged. Events Google created from an email cannot be changed at all. In both cases the event still shows and still blocks your time.
Frequently asked
Q
Can people booking with me see what my events are?
No. Your booking page shows only which times are free. Titles, guests and descriptions are never shown to anyone booking with you.
Q
Can I connect more than one Google account?
Yes. Connect each one from the same page and they all appear in your list. Every connected calendar blocks your availability unless you switch it off.
Q
Does connecting change the events I already have?
No. Existing events are read so they can block your time. The only changes TimelyDo makes are adding a new booking, or moving an event when you reschedule it yourself.
Q
Does declining an invitation free the slot up?
Yes. An invitation you declined does not block your availability, and neither does an event you marked as Free in Google.
Q
Do I need Google Workspace?
No. A personal Google account works exactly the same way as a Workspace one.
Q
What happens to my bookings if I disconnect?
Bookings already made stay in TimelyDo. What is removed is the copy of your Google events, so they stop blocking your availability.
